Dial Up Networking Setup

  1. Go to My Computer, Control Panel, then double click on Dial Up Networking
  2. Double click on Make new connection
  3. Type a name for the computer you are dialing: Type Family Net
  4. Select the appropriate model of your modem
  5. Click on Next
  6. Area code: type 604 telephone number: type your areas' dial up number:
    (Vancouver: 899-8995; or 279-8817;or 241-8818
    Chilliwack: 792-9437)
  7. Select the country code, i.e. Canada (1)
  8. Click on Next
  9. click on Finish
  10. Highlight the Family Net icon that you just created.
  11. Right click the mouse and choose properties
  12. Go to server type.
  13. Unchecked NetBeui and IPX/SPX compatible
  1. Checked TCP/IP
  2. Click on TCP/IP Settings
  3. Check specify server name address
  1. Enter 209.53.200.2 for the primary DNS
  2. Enter 209.53.200.3 for the secondary DNS.
  3. Click OK twice to exit.
  4. Highlight the Family Net icon in Dial up networking
  5. Drag the icon of Family Net out
  6. Click on Yes, i.e. create a shortcut
